Philadelphia2035 establishes the vision for the City of Philadelphia in the year 2035 and is the road map to achieve that vision. Philadelphia2035 is the product of a multi-year, comprehensive planning process. It is grounded in the Citywide Vision, and has followed through with strategic District Plans for each of Philadelphia's 18 Planning Districts. Philadelphia2035 is an aspirational, yet realistic vision for the City. Its main purpose is to set forth a collective, well-conceived plan --and the means for achieving it--for improving the quality of life for the people who live, work, learn, and visit.  The goals and recommendations of Philadelphia2035 are organized into three forward-looking themes: THRIVE, CONNECT, and RENEW.

Attendees will take away an understanding of Philadelphia's vision for the next 12 years and the impacts it may have on the construction industry in the Philadelphia region.

Laura Spina is the Comprehensive Planning Director for the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, Laura manages a staff of planners to guide the implementation of Philadelphia2035, the City's current comprehensive plan. Now that Philadelphia2035 is almost ten years old, she's leading her team in research to update the plan.  Previously, Laura served as the Center City Planner at the Planning Commission for over seven years. Her work as a community planner included managing and working on various planning efforts including the Market East and Callowhill/Chinatown North plans; helping rewrite the city's new zoning code; and coordinating with community groups and developers for projects throughout Center City.  Previously she worked as a planner for the Philadelphia Historical Commission for almost ten years. That work included community outreach and research to create six historic districts; processing applications for building permits; and educating others about preservation practices.
